Alberta RCMP are warning the public of a high-risk offender living just north of Edmonton. Dwain Law, 63, is a convicted sex offender, according to an RCMP news release. His prior convictions of sexual assault, arson and property offences all happened in British Columbia. He has since relocated to Fort Saskatchewan, Alta. He’s subject to conditions including not to attend places where children are likely to be or be in the presence of girls under 18 unless accompanied by an approved adult. He must report relationships with women and cannot consume alcohol or drugs. Police say they are monitoring Law while he is in the community. Law is 5’11” tall, 236 pounds, bald and has blue eyes. “The Alberta RCMP is issuing this information and warning after careful deliberation and consideration of all related issues, including privacy concerns, in the belief that it is in the public interest to inform the members of the community of Law’s relocation,” the news release said. “The RCMP believes that there is a risk of significant harm to the health and safety of the public.” Mounties are also reminding the public that the warning is meant to inform the public, not to encourage forms of “vigilante action.” Anyone who believes a crime has been committed should contact Alberta RCMP or call 911.
