City council approves 5.7% property tax levy increase for 2025

The City of Edmonton's 2025 municipal tax levy is lower than anticipated for 2025 at 5.7 per cent.

Edmonton City Council on Tuesday approved a 5.7-per-cent municipal property tax levy increase for 2025.

The increase is 0.4 per cent less than the 6.1 per cent council approved last fall.

The increase affects each property owner differently and is based on how a property’s assessed value compares to the market.

The confirmation of the annual tax levy is the last step in completing it. The levy funds more than half the city’s annual budget.
