Charges laid in 2025 east-central Alberta meth seizure: ALERT

Alberta’s Law Enforcement Response Team (ALERT) charged two people on March 19 in relation to a 20-kilogram seizure of methamphetamine in Wainwright nearly a year ago.

The seizure occurred during a traffic stop on April 9, 2025, where ALERT had information that the vehicle and its sole occupant had picked up a shipment of drugs in Winnipeg and was transporting them to Edmonton.

The street value of the drugs is estimated to be about $800,000 and included 20,500 grams of meth, 3,100 grams of cocaine, and other drugs and paraphernalia.

The two suspects face a total of 24 criminal offences including conspiracy to commit an indictable offence, possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking, possession of proceeds of crime, drug trafficking, firearms trafficking and other firearms-related offences.

Both suspects were released from custody and are to appear in court on April 14.
