50/50 draw from Thursday’s Oilers game will support food rescue charity

A portion of the proceeds from the 50/50 raffle at Thursday night’s Oilers game will go to support a food rescue organization.

Second Harvest works with food businesses to collect surplus food and redistribute it to non-profits.

The organization says it donated 3.5 million pounds of surplus food in Edmonton in 2024, supporting charities like Edmonton’s Food Bank, Hope Mission and Guiding Light Women’s Empowerment Society.

“We are very grateful to be the recipient organization from the 50/50 mega draw happening this evening,” Linda Murray of Second Harvest told CTV News Edmonton on Thursday.

“The proceeds from the 50/50 draw will go to funding our food rescue operations here in Alberta, and it will just ensure that we can rescue more food and provide support to more Edmontonians and Albertans.”

The Oilers will take on the Vancouver Canucks at Rogers Place at 7 p.m.
