Those three names are the most popular for both cats and dogs in Calgary, according to the city.

When it comes to breeds, the Lab is the top dog in a popularity contest, according to the city’s July 2025 data.

As for pet-loving communities, Cranston takes the top prize with over 1,800 licensed dogs in July.
