Police say a suspect “endangered the lives of Calgarians” during a recent flight from police in the city’s southwest. According to the local force, the incident began around 11:20 p.m. on Aug. 22. A woman called police to report a suspicious vehicle in the 800 block of Stonehaven Road S.W., then a pair of “unknown individuals underneath her vehicle.” Both suspects fled in a truck, police say, and refused to stop when officers located them. Police say the truck was driven “recklessly” and operated “at dangerous speeds through neighbourhoods and on major roadways while passing vehicles on the shoulder.” Around 11:30 p.m., police say a woman exited the vehicle. She got away. And at 12 a.m., after a tire deflation device was used, police say a man got out and went into a home in the 11100 block of Sacramento Drive S.W. He was arrested 20 minutes later, police say. It turns out the vehicle was reported stolen. Police say they also seized two stolen Alberta licence plates, a stolen 2021 Haro bicycle, a bag of break-and-enter tools and stolen vehicle insurance and registration documents. Police made use of a HAWCS helicopter, K9 units and tactical units in addition to patrol members during the incident. Insp. Scott Neilson says the man “endangered the lives of Calgarians with their blatant disregard for public safety as they sped through residential areas, intersections and busy roads.” Travis Lee Cramer is charged with: The 31-year-old is additionally charged with driving without insurance and unauthorized use of plates under the Traffic Safety Act.
