Calgary home shuttered by police after alleged drug use, disorder

Alberta sheriffs have shut down an alleged Calgary drug house that officers frequently visited over concerns of drug use and social disorder, located at 2836 Brentwood Blvd. N.W.

Alberta sheriffs have shut down an alleged Calgary drug house that officers frequently visited last year.

Calgary police responded to the home, located at 2836 Brentwood Blvd. N.W., a total of 26 times between May and December 2025.

“[Area residents] complained of non-stop traffic coming and going from the property at all hours of the day and night. They observed people hunched over, passed out, or observed [people] using drugs at the property or in the community around the property,” said Insp. Brent Pickard.

“Community members also observed needles and drug paraphernalia at the property and throughout the community.”

In late May 2025, there was a drug overdose death at the property.

Officials with the Safer Communities and Neighbourhoods unit (SCAN) say they began working with the owner, an elderly man, in July.

“The owner was being financially exploited by individuals using the home,” SCAN said in a news release. “Although the family made efforts over several months to bring the property back into compliance, illicit activity persisted, prompting increasing involvement by officers.”

SCAN closed the home on Tuesday.

It’s boarded up and fenced off and all the locks will be changed.

A community safety order for the home will remain in effect for two years, until Jan. 27, 2028.

“Our officers worked closely with SCAN and the community throughout this investigation to mitigate the ongoing risks associated with the location,” said Staff Sgt. Colin Chisholm. “The community of Brentwood is a safer neighbourhood now that this matter has been resolved.”

Scan noted the home was just a short distance from schools, parks and retail stores.
