Some Calgary drivers will cross the Bow River a new way starting Monday. The new Ivor Strong Bridge opened to the public over the weekend. The bridge was erected so that work can commence on rehabilitating the old structure. Once the bridge is fully operational, the new bridge will handle all southbound traffic while the refurbished one will carry northbound vehicles. Both bridges will be able to handle four lanes of traffic. According to provincial data, up to 180,000 vehicles travel Deerfoot Trail each day.
