Lethbridge County has been gathering feedback from residents as it decides how—and where—residential growth will happen in the coming years. Residents can give that feedback through a survey. Started in early February, the survey is in its last couple of weeks. March 31 is the last day to participate. The survey is part of the county’s ongoing work to update its residential land use strategy. The county is looking at what areas to prioritize in future planning, current restrictions residents would like to see changed and what kinds of development the municipality should support. “To ensure residential growth is managed responsibly, the residential land use strategy will be a fundamental document that shapes how residential development looks in the future,” Kaylyn Franklin, Lethbridge County planning and development manager, said in a news release “Residents, businesses and other key stakeholders will be at the centre of the process—your insights and experiences matter and we hope you’ll take a few minutes to share your ideas with us.” More than 10,000 residents call the county home. Anyone who would still like to take part in the survey can do so online or in person at the county office. A third option has been to call the county office and have the survey mailed—to be filled out at home and returned—but that March 31 deadline is fast approaching. The county says responses to the survey “are confidential and will be used solely to support the development of this strategy.” The aim is to have a strategy draft ready for September 2026 and a final document ready by year’s end.
