Two more names have been added to the Canadian Country Music Hall of Fame at Calgary’s National Music Centre. The 2025 inductees include singer-songwriter k.d. lang and songwriter, publisher and producer Gilles Godard. k.d. lang broke out in the 1980s with her unique torch and twang style of country music. The four-time Grammy winner and nine-time Juno winner later moved into pop music, recording duets with Roy Orbison and Tony Bennett. Lang got to place her plaque on the wall after being inducted into the hall of fame in 2024. The artist from Consort, Alta., called it a special moment. “I’m just so honoured to be here and to be amongst you and amongst the people and all the people on this building and all the youngsters that are making Canadian music, continuing to make Canadian music, world class,” Lang said. “Now my days are filled with an unmistakable desire to feel and to express gratitude for my existence in this lifetime. It’s been amazing. Godard joined the wall in the builders category.
