The Daily Show is bucking conventional wisdom in TV with a rotating cast of five hosts for the late-night satirical show, and Josh Johnson loves his role in it. “I want it to go on forever, if I’m being honest, because it allows me to be able to travel and do these shows, like the shows in Edmonton tonight and Calgary tomorrow. And it also allows me time behind the desk,” Johnson told CTV News. “It’s also very cool to see everybody do their headlines in their own way from their perspective.” Johnson’s profile on The Daily Show has risen in tandem with his growing stand-up comedy career. His HBO comedy special—Symphony—is streaming now on Crave and he performs Saturday in Calgary at the Werklund Centre. Born and raised in the lower-income community of Alexandria, La., Johnson now enjoys the spoils of a successful career, but you might be surprised by the best thing he’s bought since making it big. “Probably my Rubik’s Cube. I think when I was a kid, I didn’t get good at it, and I’m still technically not good at it. The children now are phenomenal. They’re solving it in 12 seconds,” Johnson said.
