‘It’s life-changing’: First-time Calgary Stampede Lotteries ticket buyer wins dream home

Andrea Park took a leap, buying a Calgary Stampede Lotteries ticket for the first time this year.

She landed in her dream home.

Wednesday morning, Park and her partner, David Browning, received the keys to the 2025 Calgary Stampede Rotary Dream Home.

In a release issued Wednesday afternoon, Park said she couldn’t quite believe it when the call came to tell her she’d won.

“All I heard was ‘You’d better be sitting down,’ and then I heard ‘dream home’ and ‘Stampede,’” she said.

“I was already on the floor.”

Park and Browning will move their families in just in time for the holidays.

It comes fully furnished, and they also get $50,000 in cash.

“My parents have been buying Stampede Lotteries tickets for 23 years, and they never lost hope,” Park said in Wednesday’s release.

“This was my first time buying a ticket, and I was like, ‘This could be a chance for me to own a home. Let’s try it.’”

Park said the home means a lot.

“It’s life-changing,” she said.

Park noted the home will be life-changing for her daughter in particular.

Both the Park and Browning families were on hand Wednesday.

Vered Amir, Homes by Avi vice-president of brand leadership and community engagement, said building the Calgary Stampede Rotary Dream Home has been a point of pride for the group for 29 years.

“We are excited to welcome Andrea and her family as they begin to create memories in their new dream home,” Amir said in Wednesday’s release.

Calgary Stampede Lotteries will give back “more than $1.77 million to the southern Alberta community and local charities” for 2025.

“We’re grateful to everyone who purchases a ticket, as their support helps fund programs and organizations that strengthen our city and region,” said Russ Kane, Calgary Stampede Lotteries committee chair.

It’s the ongoing support for Calgary Stampede Lotteries that made Park’s dream (home) come true, and she’s grateful.

“If it wasn’t for the community, I wouldn’t have a home,” Park said.

“Each person that purchased a ticket—they’re the ones who made this dream happen.”
