Investigation is underway into a pair of fires that took place in northeast Calgary Thursday morning. At 7:25 a.m., a call came in for a fire in the basement of a home on Whitestone Road N.E. The fire department says the flames were contained to the basement by 7:35 a.m. No one was at home at the time and no one was injured. Crews also dealt with a fire in an industrial area in the northeast. The fire department responded to a call to a strip mall in the Franklin area just after 8 a.m. They focused on an air conditioner unit on the roof above a power coating company. There doesn’t appear to be any significant damage done to the building, a fire department spokesperson said. It’s not clear whether there were injuries or what caused of the fire.
