The Interfaith Food Bank is working to address food insecurity in the community. On Friday, it held a food forum for community members and other partner organizations. The food bank shared what they’re seeing in the community. Those attending were also able to talk about their experiences and how food insecurity impacts them. Staff were also able to share tips on ways to make a family’s food dollars stretch longer. The Interfaith Food Bank feels these conversations are important to have. “We have been working to collect the stories behind those numbers and tell the unique experience of those who are actually having food insecurity,” said Danielle McIntyre, Lethbridge Interfaith Food Bank executive director. “And so, once we understand the barriers and the gaps that people are experiencing, we have the ability to try to find some solutions.” Recent data from Food Banks Canada showed food bank visits across the country are up nine per cent.
