Home suffers extensive damage in fire on Covemeadow Rd. NE

No one was injured when fire tore through a northeast home Saturday afternoon. The investigation into what sparked the fire is underway.

An investigation is underway into what caused a fire in Calgary’s northeast Saturday afternoon.

Around 12:30 p.m., fire crews responded to reports of a fire at a single family residence on Covemeadow Rd. NE in the Calgary northeast.

Firefighters discovered heavy smoke and fire coming from the back of the structure, said Calgary Fire Department battalion chief Scott Cowan.

“The fire had extended up into the attic, they did an immediate fire attack and put the fire out, and are just working on hot spots,” Cowan said.

Both occupants of the house got and there were no injuries but there was extensive damage to the property.
