There’s still snow in the mountains, Golden and District Search and Rescue is reminding after a hiker suffered a scary scenario over the weekend. Golden and District Search and Rescue were called to Bugaboo Provincial Park in southeastern British Columbia on Sunday. In a social media post, the group said the call was for “a 30-year-old female hiker who fell descending the trail below the Kain Hut.” According to the group, the woman slipped in the snow and slid 10 to 15 metres, hitting her head and shoulder on rocks. She ended up with “a severe laceration to her head and pain in her shoulder,” the group said. “We slung in with two techs and flew the subject and her partner back to the Kain Hut,” the post read. “We loaded everyone into the heli and continued to Invermere, where we met BC Emergency Health Services, who transported the subject to Invermere Hospital.” The group was assisted by Alpine Helicopters. “Something to note is that there is still lots of snow in the Alpine,” the post read. “Please be prepared when you are adventuring out there.” Bugaboo Provincial Park, also known as the Bugaboos, is located between Golden and Radium Hot Springs.
