Eight Alberta men arrested in child porn sting

Authorities say that eight Alberta men, including two from Calgary, are among the 150 offenders arrested as part of a Canada-wide sting on child porn that began earlier this year.

Operation Snapshot III was begun back in February 2014, targeting high-risk offenders who had access to children, were in a position of trust or authority, and who attempted to communicate with children for a sexual purpose.

The operation was conducted by the RCMP's National Child Exploitation Coordination Centre with the assistance of the Alberta Law Enforcement Response Team (ALERT).

Five children were rescued from harm and nearly two million images and videos were seized.

The offenders are facing a combined 23 charges, including accessing child pornography, possession of child pornography, and making available child pornography.

There is no information on court dates for any of the offenders.
