Temperatures will remain above seasonal for at least the next week and a half. From Thursday until Sunday Calgary is expecting double-digit daytime highs with lows as warm as 7 C. The normal range in Calgary this time of year is 6 C for a high and -7 C for the daily low. Strong westerly flow is driving temperatures up as warm Pacific air floods the western Prairies. Some moisture will be embedded in that air mass and periods of intense rain is likely along the southern B.C. coastline late Thursday and Friday. Rain and a mixed precipitation will likely fall over the southeastern border of British Columbia on Friday afternoon and evening, but most of that moisture should fall on the western slopes before a drier air mass descends and warms along the leeward side of the Rockies (in Alberta). A low-pressure system is expected to bring a brief disruption to this warmer pattern at the end of the weekend, introducing more moisture and cooler air into the mix. Heavy rain is possible on the coast again on Sunday and Monday, with more persistent precipitation possible across southern B.C. It will be windy in Calgary on Sunday before that low produces a slightly cooler and more unsettled day Monday. Double-digit daytime highs will return to the region Tuesday. Overnight lows will mostly remain above freezing in Calgary for the next seven to 10-days, which will help maintain that above seasonal daytime warming trend.
