Alberta RCMP have charged a 57-year-old Didsbury man in connection with a home invasion earlier this year.

Mounties were called to a home in Didsbury on May 21 after a man had broken into the residence wearing a surgical mask and armed with a knife.

They say the suspect had demanded money from a female victim, as well as her phone. He also threatened her with bodily harm before he fled on foot.

RCMP say they were unable to locate the suspect after surrounding the area but recovered a piece of clothing worn by the suspect nearby.

Forensic analysis led police to uncover the identity of the suspect, police say.

Police charged Benjamin Douglas on Tuesday with robbery, break-and-enter, disguise with intent, uttering threats and possession of a weapon.

He remains in custody and is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday.
