Cyclists kick off registration for 2026 Enbridge Tour Alberta for Cancer with spin-a-thon

The Alberta Cancer Foundation held a Spi-A-Thon Friday to raise funds and awareness for the 2026 Enbridge Tour Alberta for Cancer

The Alberta Cancer Foundation is spinning ahead with its largest and longest-running fundraiser.

A day long spin-a-thon was held Friday in the lobby of the Arthur J.E. Child Comprehensive Cancer Centre.

It kicks off registration for the 2026 Enbridge Tour Alberta for Cancer.

Riders sign up, raise money and then come together for a two-day spin event in Calgary and Edmonton on July 18 and 19 in support of Albertans living with cancer.

This will be the 18th year for the annual event, which has raised more than $111 million for research and patient care.

“The community and the event itself is really, really special,” said Ryan Kelly with the Alberta Cancer Foundation at an event held in Edmonton. “You feel it from the minute you walk on the grounds; it just feels like a big, loving, supportive community of riders and families.

“We’re really driven by purpose, and that really helps people, motivates them through some of the hard kilometres that they have to ride.”

The tour is expected to have around 1,800 riders participating and is the largest cycling event in Alberta, according to Kelly.

Registration for the 2026 Enbridge Tour Alberta for Cancer is open to people aged 16 and up. Donations are also being accepted online.

There are different distances to accommodate a range of skill levels for cyclists who sign up.

“The ride is a very accessible event … you don’t have to be an Olympic athlete to be able to participate,” Kelly said.

One in two Albertans will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime, according to the Alberta Cancer Foundation.
