Councillors close out civic careers

City Council is meeting for the last time before the election in October and it is also the last meeting for two longtime city councillors who are not seeking re-election.

Ward 2 Councillor Gord Lowe is moving on after 12 years on council.

Lowe is 73 and has said he's been contemplating retirement for several years now. He was first elected in 2001.

Also stepping aside is Ward 1 Councillor Dale Hodges who has spent 28 years at city hall.

Hodges has represented Ward 1 for 10 terms and was first elected in October 1983.

The civic election is set for October 21, 2013.
