Thousands of Calgarians have some free pumpkins thanks to a longtime Calgary business that wanted to give back to the community. Lux Windows and Doors gave away 3,000 free pumpkins at four different locations: McKenzie Lake Community Centre, as well as in Signal Hill, Arbour Lake and Triwood. They had 60 pallets of pumpkins in total. There was a lot of excitement as kids and their families took advantage of the generosity to add some colourful flavour to their homes for Halloween. “You hear so much about affordability everywhere you go in Calgary, and to be able to give back, and just the reaction you get from people-really, it’s free,” said Mike Delaney, Lux Windows and Doors’ sales director. “And who doesn’t want something free, especially a pumpkin? Every kid that comes by is smiling, and the parents just kind of give me the little behind the kid, right? Like it’s great.” Lux Windows and Doors has been around 1969, and the family-owned company says this is just one way to thank the community for its support over the decades.
