A member of the Blood Tribe is being named as the next assistant coach for the Vancouver Giants of the Western Hockey League. Wacey Rabbit is taking on the new position after serving as an assistant with the Saskatoon Blades for the past three seasons. During that time, he was able to help the club secure two 100-point seasons, along with back to back trips to the Eastern Conference finals. Rabbit played a key role for the Vancouver Giants as a player back in 2007 when he helped them win the Memorial Cup. He scored 36 points in 30 regular season games, then added 11 goals and 20 points in the playoffs as well as two goals and three points at the Memorial Cup. Drafted by the Boston Bruins, Rabbit played 14 years professionally, in the American Hockey League, East Coast Hockey League and overseas, in Czechia, Italy, Japan, Norway and elsewhere. He retired as a player following the 2020-21 season.
