National Music Centre set to celebrate Canadian musical icon Nelly Furtado in new exhibition

Canadian music icon Nelly Furtado will be featured in a new exhibition at the National Music Centre in Calgary, in conjunction with her induction into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame on March 29 at the Juno Awards in Hamilton.

The National Music Centre’s new exhibition will celebrate its latest Canadian Music Hall of Fame inductee, Nelly Furtado.

Furtado has sold over 35 million albums, won 10 Junos, a Grammy and landed multiple #1 songs in the Billboard Hot 100 over the years.

The showcase will feature the Victoria, B.C.-born Furtado’s unique sound, style and artistic evolution through a display that includes stage outfits, storytelling, photos, videos and installations.

That includes original lyric sheets, notebooks and other materials that offer a glimpse into Furtado’s songwriting process.

“Music has always been about exploration for me, and this exhibit captures so many chapters of my journey,” said Furtado, in a release. “To have these moments and memories showcased at the National Music Centre is such an honour.”

“Nelly Furtado is one of Canada’s most influential and globally recognized artists, whose career has crossed borders and bridged cultures, and we are honoured to celebrate her,” said Andrew Mosker, President and CEO of the National Music Centre. “As one of many displays at the National Music Centre dedicated to Canada’s musical legends, this exhibit invites fans to reflect on her extraordinary accomplishments while discovering even more of our country’s music story.”

The exhibit opens in Calgary on March 25, just ahead of the March 29 Juno Awards in Hamilton, where Furtado will be inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame. The exhibition runs through February, 2027.
