Assisted living portal now available to Albertans

On Feb. 18, 2026, Alberta Premier Danielle Smith announced her government's new tool to help residents access supports for continuing care and assisted living.

The Alberta government has announced a new online portal aimed at helping residents and their families access assisted living and continuing care options across the province.

The new tool, called the Assisted Living Navigation Portal, provides users with a map of supports that Albertans can access.

To begin, Albertans are instructed to fill out a short questionnaire to help direct their needs and find continuing care homes and supportive living accommodations.

With that done, users can then browse the results by examining out-of-pocket costs, number of available spaces and contact information.

“Finding assisted living shouldn’t be complicated. As Albertans age, it’s critical that they understand the supports available to them,” said Jason Nixon, Alberta’s minister of assisted living and social services, in a news release.

“This new portal cuts through the complexity, making it easier for Albertans to find the right assisted living option for them and take the next step with confidence.”

Officials say the portal will be rolled out over time, adding new features, such as home and community care options to ensure they make the right decision.
