When comedian and actor Andrew Phung walked on stage at Loose Moose Theatre at the age of 15 it had an overwhelming impact on his life. “So literally, being on stage at Loose Moose changed the lives of five Asian kids from the northeast of Calgary,” Phung told CTV News. Phung and his friends were competing in the Loose Moose high school theatre sports tournament. “Those same friends are my best friends now and all of us work in the creative sector,” the Kim’s Convenience and Run the Burbs star said. In 2027 Loose Moose will celebrate its 50th anniversary and its story will be told in a documentary, produced by Ramin Eshraghi-Yazdi. “Theatre sports, which came out of the Loose Moose, went on to inspire things like Who’s Line is It Anyway, and it’s a format that’s performed internationally, probably the most performed improv format in the world,” Eshraghi-Yazdi said.
