A 37-year-old man is facing several charges after he was arrested following an assault in the town of Oyen. Mounties were called to Ball Trailer Park at 10 p.m. on July 14 for a disturbance. Officers found a man who had sustained serious injuries from being struck with a baseball bat. A further investigation led police to arrest a resident of the community. He has been charged with aggravated assault, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and uttering threats. The accused was released from custody on conditions and is set to appear in the Alberta Court of Justice in Hanna on Sept. 23. Oyen is located approximately 316 kilometres east of Calgary.
