Alberta lays out flood recovery spending plans

The province says they expect to get through 90 percent of the eligible residential DRP applications by the end of March 2014.

Building on initiatives and projects planned out in 2013, the province of Alberta is continuing recovery and mitigation from the June 2013 floods with $1.1B in spending over the next three years.

$518M is expected to be spent in the period of 2014-15 alone.

The province also says that an additional $800M will be spent on Disaster Recovery Program initiatives this year.

They include mitigation, repairs to infrastructure, and recovery assistance for property owners.

There have been more than 4,500 payments through the DRP totaling more than $46M.

The province has pledged to complete 90 percent of the outstanding residential DRP applications by the end of the month.
