Airdrie man charged in hit-and-run involving 17-year-old girl

Airdrie RCMP say a man has been charged in connection with a hit-and-run that saw a 17-year-old girl injured.

The teen was in a marked crosswalk at Windhaven Gate and Windstone Road S.W. just after 8:30 a.m. on Oct. 2 when she was hit by a white Dodge Caravan.

RCMP say the driver stopped and got out of his vehicle, but appeared to “be upset” with the teen girl.

The driver had a “brief exchange” with the girl, then returned to his vehicle and left, RCMP said.

On Monday, RCMP announced a 35-year-old man has been charged with failure to remain at the scene of an accident.

“As the information has not been sworn, he cannot be named,” RCMP said. “But he will be appearing in Alberta Court of Justice in Airdrie on Dec. 11 to answer to the charge.”
