Aggie Days at Stampede Park invites students and families to learn about farm life

This week, Calgary and area students will learn about life on the farm as part of the annual Aggie Days event at Stampede Park.

From Wednesday, April 15, to Friday, April 17, the Nutrien Western Event Centre will welcome school groups to learn about agriculture without leaving the city.

Aggie Days, a completely free event, uses live demonstrations and interactive displays to help students in Grades 3 to 6 experience farming up close.

“Through interactive exhibits and activities, students explore the story of food and learn how agriculture shapes what we eat every day,” officials said in a news release.

“During the lunch hour, the Nutrien Western Event Centre comes alive with novice rodeo competitions, where animal and amateur athletes showcase the unique partnership between people and animals.”

The event is open to all students whose teachers have pre-registered.

Then, on Saturday, April 18, and Sunday, April 19, Aggie Days invites families to attend to explore animal exhibits and learn about the story of food in Alberta.

“This family-friendly event offers a chance to see animals up close, watch live demonstrations like cow milking and sheep shearing and take part in hands-on activities — all while connecting directly with local farmers, ranchers and industry experts,” officials said.

Admission is free on both days.
