A man and woman face charges after members of ALERT Lethbridge’s organized crime unit seized two dozen firearms, nearly 200 knives and edged weapons and drugs. With assistance from Lethbridge police officers, ALERT Lethbridge officers executed a search warrant on the 2000 block of Seventh Avenue North on July 15. Police say the home was linked to suspected drug trafficking activity that had been reported in June, 2026. ALERT Lethbridge say they seized 19 rifles, three shotguns, nine replica firearms, one pistol, 4,700 rounds of ammunition, 12 prohibited weapons, around 170 knives and edged weapons and two body armour vests. They also seized 53 grams of cocaine, 41 grams of methamphetamine, 538 fentanyl and oxycodone pill, 113 LSD tabs, 20 cartons of contraband tobacco products, and $13, 649 cash. Officers say they believe many of the weapons were being swapped for drugs. None of the weapons were lawfully possessed. The weapons and knives included switch blades, swords, nunchakus, collapsible batons, brass knuckles, and some Freddy Krueger-style claws. Two people were arrested and charged. A 47-year-old woman was charged with possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking, possession of proceeds of crime, possession of body armour, charges under the tobacco act and multiple firearms-related offences. Because of a previous conviction, the woman has a lifetime firearms prohibition. A 56-year-old man was charged with possession of drugs. “The drug trade is inherently violent and unpredictable. A huge weapons cache such as this demonstrates an unwelcome danger to our community,” said Staff Sgt. Trevor Sheppard, ALERT, in a media release.
