1 suspect in custody, 3 outstanding in assault at Calgary car show and shine

Calgary police have arrested one suspect and are looking for three more after a young man was assaulted at a car show-and-shine event.

The incident happened around 9:15 p.m. on April 18, in a parking lot in the 5300 block of 61 Avenue S.E.

According to police, the 19-year-old victim went to the hospital the following day, where it turned out he required surgery for his injuries.

Police say the arrested suspect was identified through CCTV footage.

The suspect is currently 18 years old but was a minor at the time of the incident, and his identity is protected under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

He was charged with aggravated assault on May 5.

Police say the first remaining suspect is:

• male;
• 18 to 25 years old;
• light-skinned;
• muscular; and
• black-haired (with a black beard).

At the time of the incident, he’s said to have been wearing white sneakers, black pants, a light-grey hoodie and a black cap.

The second remaining suspect is described as:

• male; and
• slim or medium-built

At the time of the incident, he’s said to have been wearing a black motorcycle helmet, a black jacket and light-coloured pants.

There is currently no description available for the third remaining suspect.
