1 man in hospital after early morning Forest Lawn shooting

Shooting in Forest Lawn under investigation Calgary police are investigating a shooting in the southeast on Wednesday morning. Austin Lee reports.

One man was taken to Foothills Medical Centre early Wednesday morning after being shot multiple times in southeast Calgary, police say.

Officers responded to the intersection of 17 Avenue and 36 Street S.E. shortly before 4 a.m.

Police say it appears the shooting was a targeted attack.

"(We) continue to search for the suspect(s) and are asking for the public’s assistance to come forward with any information about the incident, including any suspicious activity or vehicles seen in the area around the time of the shooting," the Calgary Police Service said in a statement.

Officials say this latest incident of gun violence is a concern for police, which have made these crimes a priority.

"Our efforts to address gun violence rely on strong community support. If you have information that could help an investigation, such as witnessing suspicious behaviour or vehicles, please contact police. Even something small can have a great impact on an investigation."

As of Wednesday morning, police said the victim was still in hospital in stable condition.
