TORONTO -- Barrick Gold Corp. says normal operations at its Veladero mine in Argentina have resumed after a pipe carrying process solution in a heap leach area was damaged last month.

The company said Tuesday it has completed work required by provincial authorities to prevent the incident from reoccurring.

Work at the mine was suspended on Sept. 15 after falling ice damaged the pipe and material -- primarily crushed ore saturated with process solution -- left the leach pad.

Barrick said the material was contained within the mine site and returned to the leach pad.

Water monitoring confirmed the incident did not result in any environmental impacts, the company said.
