Unsecured couch in truck bed leads to charge in Caledon

A couch ride down a Caledon road ended quickly when police spotted a pickup truck hauling furniture with no visible restraints.

Provincial police in Caledon say officers conducting routine traffic enforcement stopped a vehicle on Healey Road after noticing furniture in the truck bed.

Photos released by police on social media show a couch wedged into the back of a black Ford pickup.

The driver, a 23-year-old from Brampton, was charged with an insecure load under the Highway Traffic Act.

Police say incidents like this highlight the importance of properly securing cargo before heading out. Motorists are encouraged by police to report unsafe vehicles or dangerous driving behaviours to law enforcement.

Officers remind drivers that road safety is a shared responsibility, and taking a few extra minutes to secure a load can prevent serious collisions.
