Two charged after road rage incident turns violent in Bradford neighbourhood

Two individuals have been charged after a road rage incident in a residential neighbourhood escalated into an assault, police say.

South Simcoe police say officers were called to Line 8 and Summerlyn Trail in Bradford after a disturbance involving two vehicles Monday around 6:40 p.m.

Police say the driver of one vehicle flashed their high beams at a grey Honda CRV, which was speeding through the area. They say a verbal argument followed between the two drivers.

The situation worsened when police say the Honda CRV followed the other vehicle to the owner’s home, where the driver and a passenger confronted and physically assaulted the homeowner.

A 20-year-old man from Bradford faces charges of assault and failure to comply with an undertaking. A 20-year-old Bradford woman is charged with assault and assault with a weapon.

“Road rage is a serious issue that can quickly lead to dangerous or criminal behaviour,” stated South Simcoe police. “Police are urging drivers to stay calm behind the wheel and to use safe, non-confrontational strategies when faced with aggressive behaviour on the road.”
