Looking to turn your passion into a real business venture? While now you can this summer. The City of Barrie is calling on students aged 15 to 29 with entrepreneurial spirit to apply for this year’s Summer Company Program. The initiative is available to everyone living in the Barrie, Simcoe County, and Orillia areas. How it works Participants receive up to $3,000 in a micro-grant, mentorship from experienced business professionals and access to valuable training and networking opportunities through support and funding. That’s not all - the city says students will get to keep any profits generated through the operation of their business. You must live in Ontario and be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident to be eligible. You cannot already own a business, have another job, or have received a Summer Company grant in the past. If you are interested, you must be prepared to dedicate at least 280 hours over the summer for high school students or a minimum of 420 hours for post-secondary students to their business. Applications will be accepted until April 30.
