Three new parks open in Barrie this summer

Construction on all three parks: Phoenix Park, Nottingham Park and Gateway Park was completed in 2025.

Barrie residents have three newly constructed neighbourhood parks they can visit this summer, along with two parks that have recently been renovated.

“Every park we open and every playground we renew gives kids in Barrie safe, accessible places to play, grow and make memories close to home,” said Mayor of Barrie Alex Nuttall in a release shared by the city.

Phoenix Park

Located at 301 Phoenix Boulevard in south Barrie, Phoenix Park boasts a basketball court, gazebo, playground an a soccer field for residents to enjoy this summer.

Nottingham Park

Residents on the southeast side of town looking for a local park can check out Nottingham Park at 117 Nottingham Road. The park features a basketball court, soccer field, playground and gazebo.

Gateland Park

Gateland Park located at 100 Evergreen Terrace, features junior and senior play structures, a wheelchair accessible swing, a multi-use court, a basketball shooting zone and a shade pavilion.

The city of Barrie has also recently renovated East Bayfield Park located at 99 Hannmer Street and Eastview Community Park at 453 Grove Street East.

At East Bayfield Park, residents can find an accessible playground, a baseball field, a basketball court, a soccer field and tennis court. Meanwhile, over at Eastview Community Park, residents can find a pickleball court, playground, soccer field and tennis court.
