Suspect shoots firearm during home invasion in Innisfil

Police say around 5 a-m Saturday, three masked people forced their way into a home in the Orchard Avenue area, one armed with a gun.

South Simcoe Police are on the lookout for three suspects after a home invasion on Saturday morning.

South Simcoe Police say they received a call around 5:00 a.m. from a residence saying three masked suspects forced entry into a home, with one suspect holding a firearm in the area of Orchard Avenue in Innisfil.

According to police, the suspects gained entry into the home where they were confronted by the homeowner and one suspect discharged a firearm at the homeowner however no injuries were reported.

The suspects then fled the scene in a white Honda sedan.

Police describe the suspects as black males, wearing dark clothing and face coverings. Police have obtained video footage from the home and releasing photos for the public to help identify the suspects.

Police continue to investigate and residents in the area can expect to see an increased police presence in the area of Orchard Avenue, Warnica Avenue, Mapleview Drive East.

There is no threat to public safety.

Police are asking residents in the area to check their own surveillance footage between the hours of 4:00 a.m. to 5:00 a.m. and anyone with information to call police or Crime Stoppers.
