Speed bumps coming to a Barrie street near you

Love ‘em or hate ‘em, speed bumps are a necessary evil in our communities.

As part of Barrie’s city council initiative to address speeding and aggressive driving, the city now uses many traffic calming measures and road safety practices to keep our community and streets safe.

Traffic calming employs using speed bumps, cushions and bollards to slow motorists down.

The objective is to reduce speeds on roads where lower speeds enhance safety and livability in neighbourhoods.

Traffic-calmed streets improve residents’ quality of life and increase safety for active transportation, such as bikes, walkers and joggers.
