As you’re out and about at Barrie’s Kempenfest, camping or cottaging over the long weekend, you may want to keep a raincoat and umbrella handy. Environment Canada says between 50 and 80 mm of rain is possible in much of Simcoe County on Saturday. The national weather centre has issued a special weather statement for several communities in the region, including Barrie, Collingwood, Orangeville, Orillia and Muskoka. Rain is expected throughout the afternoon into the evening with more potentially coming on Sunday. Heavy rain and thunderstorms could also move through the region repeatedly. The conditions could create for tricky driving with water likely to pool on roads in low-lying areas and it could become difficult to see at times, according to Environment Canada. The Civic Holiday Monday is looking like the best day of the long weekend with forecasters predicting a mix of sun and cloud and a comfortable high of 25 C.
