Recognizing outstanding contributions of child care professionals across Simcoe County

The County of Simcoe is marking the calendar, highlighting and recognizing the outstanding contributions of child care professionals right across the region.

Warden Basil Clarke stated in a Tuesday release that he has proclaimed Oct. 21 as the 25th Annual Child Care Worker and Early Childhood Educator Appreciation Day.

According to the County, roughly 2,000 people here in Simcoe County work in a total of 226 licensed child care programs and licensed home child care agencies.

These systems hold a capacity of over 12,000 licensed spaces.

This statistic includes three special needs resourcing agencies and 30 EarlyON Child and Family Centres in the region.

To celebrate each person’s commitment to children, families, and community well-being, the County proudly says it designates the day to celebrate and thank each exceptional educator.

Composed of sixteen member municipalities, the County of Simcoe provides public services to residents as well as paramedic and social services to both Barrie and Orillia.
