Raising the rainbow flag is done with PRIDE in Simcoe County

Simcoe County has officially proclaimed June as Pride Month.

County council gathered at the Administration Centre in Midhurst to raise the Pride flag, demonstrating the county’s ongoing commitment to an inclusive and more welcoming regional community.

Pride Month is recognized across Canada as a time to celebrate the contributions, resilience, and diversity of 2SLGBTQQIA+ people, while also acknowledging the ongoing work required to advance equity and inclusion.

“Pride Month is a reminder of the strength that comes from embracing and celebrating our differences,” said Warden Basil Clarke.

“In Simcoe County, we are committed to building communities where everyone feels seen, valued, and safe to be themselves. We demonstrate this commitment by flying the Pride flag throughout the month of June and by supporting initiatives that advance inclusion and strengthen our communities,” Clarke said.

Residents are encouraged to participate in Pride Month by learning and engaging in actions that support a more inclusive Simcoe County for everyone, including taking part in Pride‑related events and activities hosted within their local municipalities.
