Authorities have taken one man into custody after police closed a major Barrie road Sunday for what they say was an ongoing investigation. The investigation was an alleged assault that shut down a portion of Essa Road for the morning. The two people in connection with the investigation are known to each other, according to Barrie police. Authorities say multiple police resources were on scene, working to contact the suspect, who they think was in a residence on Essa Road. Paramedics and a police dog were seen on site as well. Essa Road was closed between Gowan Street and Burton Avenue for the morning and reopened at around 12:30 p.m. There is no other information available from police at this time.
