An hours long police presence is expected in Midland on Friday, provincial police warn. The OPP took to social media to ask residents to avoid the King Street and Hugel Avenue. Residents of the area are asked to follow the instructions of police and not to pick up hitchhikers. Around 5 a.m. a social media post from OPP said residents can expect road and sidewalk closures around Hugel Avenue and Elizabeth Street, in additional to King Street, Bourgeois Lane and First Street. Midland Fire Services say they attended the scene of a medical emergency on King Street, just before 3 a.m. Fire services say OPP were already on scene and “treating a patient,” who was then placed in the care of paramedics.
