Police need your help recovering stolen snowmobile in Lake of Bays area

Police need your help tracking down a missing snowmobile.

Officials say a grey 2020 Polaris Assault 800 was reported stolen between Jan. 10 and Jan. 19 along Fieldale Road in Lake of Bays Township.

The snowmobile has the Ontario license plate number 2AT846.

The investigation into its whereabouts is ongoing, and Huntsville police would like to hear from anyone with knowledge or video surveillance of the area.

Preventing thefts

To prevent snowmobile thefts, police recommend storing snowmobiles in a locked garage or shed where available, using heavy-duty chains to secure them to immovable objects, and removing keys, documents, and valuables.

Authorities also remind owners, when traveling, to use trailer tongue locks and wheel locks and keep sleds in well-lit areas. Taking advantage of technology, using GPS tracking devices would assist in finding the snowmobile.
