Police investigate threatening phone call to Bracebridge elementary school

Bracebridge police are investigating after a threatening phone call was made to Muskoka Falls Public School Tuesday morning.

Police say officers responded just before 9 a.m. to the elementary school on Morrow Drive after staff reported receiving the call.

While the threat did not disrupt school activities, officers showed up as a precaution and students and staff stayed indoors.

In a message to families, Carolynne Bull with the Trillium Lakelands District School Board confirmed there was a police presence at the school and said an officer may also remain on site Wednesday as a precaution.

“I appreciate that this may be upsetting news to hear,” Bull wrote in the email to families. “Please know that the well-being and safety of our students, staff, and community are our first priority.”

Police say there is currently no known threat to student or staff safety. Investigators are now working to determine the validity and source of the phone call.
