Provincial police say a driver has been charged after he was allegedly observed nearly doubling the speed limit on Highway 11. OPP say officers conducted a traffic stop near Greer Road in Huntsville, at approximately 9:50 p.m. on Thursday. Police claim that moments earlier, the vehicle was observed travelling at 197 km/h in a 100 km/h zone. A 24-year-old Newcastle man has been charged with stunt driving. The man’s licence has been suspended and his vehicle has been impounded for 14 days, police say. The accused will appear before an Ontario Court of Justice in September.
