Person seriously injured in overnight crash that closed section of Highway 89

One person was rushed to the hospital with serious injuries after an overnight crash along Highway 89 in Cookstown.

Police closed Highway 89 between County Road 56 and King Street just before midnight while emergency crews responded to the area.

Details about what led to the crash have not yet been released, but police confirmed the crash involved a single vehicle.

One person sustained serious injuries and was taken to the local hospital for treatment.

The closure remained in place for a few hours.

Around 2:30 a.m. Thursday, officials confirmed over social media that Highway 89 had reopened between County Road 56 and King Street.
