Olympic skating legends to perform and host event in Wasaga Beach

Some of Canada’s most celebrated figure skating stars are returning to Wasaga Beach this June for a one-of-a-kind weekend of storytelling, performances, and behind-the-scenes access.

Olympic medalists Elizabeth Manley and Elvis Stojko, along with four-time World Champion Kurt Browning, will take centre ice at the new Wasaga Stars Arena on June 8, for Champions on Ice – a high-energy show featuring a cast of elite skaters from around the world. Fans will also have the chance to meet the athletes in person during a post-show meet and greet, and to attend a special Fireside Chat the evening before the main event.

“Wasaga Beach is ready to roll out the red carpet for these figure skating icons who will host a fireside chat and perform at our new Wasaga Stars Arena,” said Mayor Brian Smith.

The event will take place on one of the arena’s new NHL-size ice pads and includes appearances by an impressive roster of talent. In addition to Manley, Stojko and Browning, the show will feature three-time Olympic medalist Kaetlyn Osmond, two-time Canadian Champion Nam Nguyen, two-time Mexican Champion Gladys Orozco-Stojko, and Battle of the Blades champion Violetta Afanasieva.

The celebration kicks off June 7 with the Fireside Chat – a more intimate evening inside the arena’s RE/MAX Room where Manley, Stojko and Browning will share stories from their competitive days, answer audience questions, and offer a glimpse into life off the ice. The evening begins with a sneak peek at the show’s rehearsal, followed by the conversation and a licensed bar for guests of legal drinking age.

On June 8, doors to Champions on Ice open at 1 p.m., with the show beginning at 2 p.m. A post-show meet and greet and autograph session will follow at 4:30 p.m. Tickets for the event range from $25 to $100 and are available now.

Parking for Champions on Ice will be free.
